1. LAS VEGAS
BEST FOR:
A bride (and bridal party) that isn’t afraid to have a little fun
WHY GO:
VEGAS IS THE CLASSIC BACHELORETTE DESTINATION
This is perhaps the bachelorette capital of the world - the city was all but built for this. Being America's playground, the city truly does have everything a bachelorette party is looking for - easy access, hotel options galore, every form of entertainment you can imagine, spots to see and be seen, nearly guaranteed sunshine - all condensed onto the Las Vegas Strip.
THE VARIETY ALLOWS YOU TO TAILOR YOUR TRIP AND KEEP EVERYONE ENTERTAINED
There are so many versions of Vegas depending on how you plan your trip. Dine at Michelin star restaurants or grab some greasy grub on the go. Stay up all night with celebrity DJs in jam-packed night clubs or catch a show you won't find anywhere else in the world. Spend your day keeping the party going at a day club or relaxing with a spa day. Get out of the city and head to the Grand Canyon or park yourself at a table and try your hand at blackjack.
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
VEGAS CAN BE DECEPTIVELY EXPENSIVE
Sure, you might get a hotel promo offering a ridiculously low-priced room, if you're lucky. But, some nights, hotels can have crazy prices and there aren't great Airbnb options. Then, think about all of the other expenses that go into having a fun time. Bottle service comes with a side of sticker shock. Some show tickets can be quite expensive. Start adding in dinners, drinks, gambling, etc. and you can quickly find yourself out of money. Make sure you and your group are comfortable with the budget so you don’t find yourselves holding back when you shouldn’t. Also, keep in mind any special events going on in the city that might drive prices up.
KEEP THE SANITY OF YOUR GROUP IN MIND WHEN PLANNING
Vegas is stimulation overload. It's like if Times Square were an entire city. Just being there can wear you down and I find I have a limit and then I'm ready to head home. Keep this in mind when planning and don't overbook your group. Balance some of the typical wild Vegas activities with something more mild to recharge. Above all, know your people and what they would be comfortable with and pick activities that match.
MUST DOS:
SPEND A DAY POOLSIDE
There's plenty to do in Vegas before the sun goes down. Whether you need to recover from a hangover or are looking to cause one, there's a pool for you. Either way, Vegas pools are known for being over the top. For a bachelorette, I recommend splurging on a cabana. If you're at a day club, it'll give you an escape from the masses, and if you're at a more laid-back pool, you'll be pampered all day with food and beverage service. You'll have a space for your whole group to spend the day together, and depending where you book, some pretty awesome amenities like the private plunge pool we got at the Venetian.
SEE A SHOW
Your wish is Vegas' command. Whether it be comedy, magic, or circus-style acrobatics - you can see it all. Vegas is also an equal opportunity town, with the rare opportunity for women to indulge in a more scandalous show. Try a bachelorette favorite male revue or a sophisticated, but raunchy variety show. Look here for some options!
EXPLORE THE STRIP
Vegas is a feast for the eyes. Nowhere else in the world can you venture from Egypt to New York to Ancient Rome in a matter of minutes. The bars inside the casinos range from ski lodges to saloons to chic chandeliers. Explore it all and wear your sashes while you do. I can tell you from experience that people will jump at the chance to buy your group a round.

2. MIAMI
BEST FOR:
The trendy bride (and bridal party) that enjoys the club scene, by day and night
WHY GO:
MIAMI IS A PARTY TOWN
I might be opening myself up for argument here, but Miami might be more of a party town than Vegas in my mind. It's hard to put my finger on, but I think it's because it's part of the culture for the locals here just as much as it is for the tourists. Needless to say, if your group is looking for a night (or day) out, you won't have to look hard.
IT'S SUNNY YEAR ROUND, AND THE BEACH IS JUST STEPS AWAY
Like Vegas, the party does not stop when the sun comes up; the pools are as much of an adult playground as the nightclubs. But, Miami has the bonus of being steps from the ocean and one of the most iconic beaches in the world. If your group is coming from far and wide, they'll love the bonus of escaping to the tropics for a few days.
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
GOING OUT IS GEARED MORE TOWARDS CLUBS
If your bride is more into laid-back bars where you can have a great conversation, your options might be a little thin, and there are plenty of other destinations that might be a better match. But, if your bride is a party animal looking to let loose at a notorious club, Miami is your match.
MIAMI CAN GET INCREDIBLY BUSY, DRIVING PRICES UP AND MAKING RESERVATIONS HARD TO COME BY
Be sure to plan in advance so you aren't left hanging out to dry without a table at the restaurant you had been eyeing. Also make sure to check with your group to be sure everyone is comfortable with the budget, not just for accommodations, but for all the extra activities.
MUST DOS:
GET A CABANA BY THE POOL
The pool scene in Miami is wild. You don't even have to be at a "club" pool to feel like you are. DJs, dancing, and crowds of scantily clad "swimmers" are the norm, and it can be great to have a place for your group to camp out, not to mention have your drinks delivered. A cabana should be on every bachelorette's wish list.
GO DANCING
Of course, option A is to head to one of Miami's infamous clubs like E11even or LIV, where you'll dance on elevated surfaces or with hordes of other club-goers to celebrity DJs. Option B is to take a more finessed twist on dancing and head to Little Havana to explore the city's Latin influences and try your hand at Salsa.
GET OUT ON THE WATER WITH A BOAT DAY
Want to enjoy the sunshine with a little more privacy than a massive pool party? Charter a boat for the day. It's all the fun of a cabana, but you get to control the playlist and you can get out and explore. You'll likely head to a little sandbar and be able to dive in for some water activities.

3. NEW ORLEANS
BEST FOR:
The bride that's not quite a Vegas bride, but still wants to let the good times roll
WHY GO:
COMPARED TO SOME OTHER DESTINATIONS NEW ORLEANS IS MORE AFFORDABLE
The first time I went to New Orleans and picked up a bar tab, I thought there had been a mistake. Turns out drinks were half the price of drinks in Nashville. Even the Southern hospitality comes with a reasonable price tag. There are some wonderful hotels and restaurants that won't break the bank, and the city is well-suited for a shared Airbnb without missing out on the perks of a hotel.
NEW ORLEANS IS AN EXPERIENCE UNLIKE ANYWHERE ELSE
The city has a culture that's all its own. A mix of Southern, French, Creole, Spanish, Cajun, and African American influences have helped the city become legendary for jazz music and delicious food. You'll find exuberant second line parades, spooky aboveground cemeteries, Spanish moss covered trees, Voodoo traditions, and distinct architecture. You'll also find a city that knows how to have fun like nowhere else. I thought I had seen party streets before, but nothing compares to Bourbon.
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE IMPACT OF MARDI GRAS
In most cities, Mardi Gras is an afterthought or maybe a single day celebration. In New Orleans, it's transformative for the city, and it goes on for weeks. I'm not saying you should rule Mardi Gras season out for your bachelorette - it might add to the fun. But keep in mind, it might also add to the cost and complexity of your trip. Be prepared for parade routes to shut down the city, stagnated transportation, wall to wall people on Bourbon Street, and just generally things you never thought you'd see in public.
BE SMART AS YOU LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL
New Orleans has a big personality for a city, one that can suck you in. It's dripping with charm and hospitality, but part of its allure is its sense of freedom, almost lawlessness. In an area like Bourbon Street where there are more tourists than locals and everyone is intoxicated, it can be easy for some to take advantage of the city's "laissez les bon temps roulez" attitude. Don't get me wrong, go get the Bourbon Street experience, but travel smart and venture into other parts of the city as well.
MUST DOS:
DRINK ALL THE ICONIC NEW ORLEANS COCKTAILS
It's your bachelorette, so you have to include the Bourbon Street classics like hurricanes (from Pat O'Brien's), hand grenades (from Tropical Isle), or any other over-sized or over-proofed cocktails the bars can dream up. You should also start the evening with some of NOLA's classier creations like the Sazerac, which was first mixed by Antoine Peychaud on Royal Street, or the Pimm's Cup, an old English drink given a New Orleans twist at the Napoleon House. Check out this list for even more classics to sample while you're here.
INDULGE IN THE CITY'S DINING SCENE
Hit pause on the party long enough to fully appreciate the excellence of New Orleans' dining options. Try local Cajun & Creole dishes like jambalaya or gumbo. Indulge at mainstay institutions like Café du Monde (for beignets), Commander's Palace, Brennan's, Galatoire's, Antoine's, Arnaud's - the list is extensive. Or try one of the new and trendy spots that continue to grow and shape the city's culinary landscape.
EXPERIENCE THE UNIQUELY NEW ORLEANS CULTURE
Learn about the legacy of Jazz at the New Orleans Jazz Museum, or experience it first-hand by lounge-hopping along Frenchmen Street, stopping at institutions like Preservation Hall, Blue Nile, and the Spotted Cat, among others. For a more macabre twist, take one of the cities ghost tours. You could also opt for a Voodoo tour, which explains more about the real Voodoo, a blend of African and Catholic religious beliefs.

4. NASHVILLE
BEST FOR:
The bride who can't wait to sing along to every song, honky tonk after honky tonk
WHY GO:
NASHVILLE IS THE PERFECT BALACE OF MODERN SOUTHERN CHARM
You're in the South, so the people will be nicer, life will be slower, and the food will be better. Prepare yourself to eat your way through a weekend. But, don't think that Nashville is some backwoods town. It's one of the fastest growing cities in the country with lots of young professionals and artists from all over. You can even find favorites from the coasts like Pastis (coming soon) and Jean-Georges here, but make sure to try the local fare, like hot chicken (try Hattie B's or Prince's) and BBQ.
HONKY TONKS ARE FILLED WITH LIVE MUSIC (BEYOND COUNTRY) THAT BEGS YOU TO SING ALONG - OR EVEN JOIN IN KARAOKE!
I can't tell you how many people I've talked to who have gone to Nashville apprehensive about the prevalence of country music, but have returned saying it was one of the most fun trips of their lives. There's something about the experience, whether the band is playing country ballads or 90s throwbacks, that draws you in, unable to resist a good time. You'll be lucky to have a voice by the end of a weekend!
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
NIGHTLIFE WILL CENTER MORE AROUND BARS THAN CLUBS
Don't get me wrong, the bars in Nashville are incredibly fun and more lively than most, but true nightclubs are less common. For some this is a huge selling point, for others the lack of clubs might be a letdown. Think about how your group likes to spend their nights out.
YOU WILL NOT BE THE ONLY BACHELORETTE CREW IN TOWN
This is true for many places on this list, but Nashville is compact, and you're likely going to encounter other gaggles of girls decked out in sashes, boots, and light-up cowboy hats. In some ways this makes the town more fun, but if you don't like to share the spotlight, don't be surprised.
MUST DOS:
LISTEN TO LIVE MUSIC (ON BROADWAY AND BEYOND)
This isn't hard to achieve because any honky tonk you walk into on Broadway or in Midtown will have someone (likely incredible) playing. But, consider going to a place like the Grand Ole Opry, the Ryman, Station Inn, or the Bluebird Café, which are all but sacred spaces in the country music world and offer a purer listening experience. Note: getting into the Bluebird is incredibly difficult and requires a dose of luck and flexibility, so you might want to bank elsewhere for your bachelorette.
MIX UP HOW YOU'RE DRINKING
Hop aboard a pedal tavern. Ok, people either love these or hate these, but they're an opportunity to have a good time while getting out to explore the city. Alternatively, break up the bar scene with bowling at Pinewood Social, which also offers outdoor dip pools and a great brunch. Or, if it's in season, book seats at a Preds game. Even if you aren't a hockey fan, the games are still a ton of fun and you'll be right on Broadway for when the game lets out.
CHECK OUT THE COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME
First off, forget the stereotype that Nashville is all country music, all the time. That said, country music is a huge part of the city's identity, and this museum seeks to do that heritage justice. Even if you aren't a country fan, you can still appreciate the well-executed displays and artifacts from artists like Dolly Parton, Elvis, Shania Twain, Garth Brooks, and Taylor Swift. Plus, this is one thing in Nashville that doesn't revolve entirely around drinking for when you need to dry out a little.

5. AUSTIN
BEST FOR:
The bridal party that wants to pretend they're back in college, just a little more elevated
WHY GO:
ALL THE FUN OF A COLLEGE TOWN WITH "GROWN-UP" OPTIONS IF YOU WANT THEM
It's a university town, and Texas students and alumni know how to have a good time, especially after a Longhorn win. If you want to see for yourself and re-live your college glory days, head to "Dirty" Sixth. That said, Austin is also the state capitol and a booming tech hub, so there are endless options for great restaurants and places for "grown-ups" to go out, where you can have just as much fun as the college kids without being surrounded by them.
YOU CAN PARTY TO YOUR HEART'S CONTENT, BUT THAT'S NOT ALL THERE IS TO AUSTIN
Shop on South Congress to see Austin's eccentric side. Learn about Lone Star history at the Bullock Texas State History Museum or the Capitol building. Catch a Longhorn Football game at DKR. Taste local vodka at the Deep Eddy Distillery. Get out and exploring the lakes and the city's green spaces. This last one is a "must do" with tons of options to choose from - see more below.
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
GOING OUT IN AUSTIN IS MORE CENTERED AROUND BARS THAN CLUBS
There's plenty of variety here from speakeasies to college bars to rooftop terraces to vibrant spots to dance the night away, but the focus is not on nightclubs. If your bride has her heart set on Vegas style bottle service, Austin might not be the best pick. That said, I don't think I've ever been out with anyone in Austin who hasn’t had a good time.
IF YOU HAVE YOUR HEART SET ON A LAKE HOUSE, BE REALISTIC ABOUT HOW MUCH YOU'LL MAKE IT INTO THE CITY
Lake Travis is home to some truly impressive lake houses, and it's an amazing spot to base yourself for the weekend. But, it's also about an hour from the city when you factor in traffic, so it'll be harder to pop over to a downtown dinner reservation or one of the bars on Sixth St. If you want to bias more towards city experiences, consider a party bus for a daytrip to Lake Travis or explore your options on Lady Bird Lake or Lake Austin.
MUST DOS:
EXPLORE AUSTIN'S NATURAL BEAUTY
Recover from a late night with a dose of the great outdoors. Hike along the Barton Creek Greenbelt's winding trails, waterfalls, and naturally formed swimming holes; paddleboard or kayak in front of the city skyline on Lady Bird Lake; or dive into Barton Springs, a spring-fed swimming pool at Zilker Park.
HOP AROUND TO MULTIPLE BAR AREAS
There's a lot of variety when it comes to Austin's bar scene. Rainey Street is made up of quirky old houses converted into bars with great outdoor space. West Sixth is frequented by young professionals and home to slightly more upscale bars with gimmicky Capri Sun cocktails or arcade games. Go to the other side of Congress, to East (widely known as Dirty) Sixth for the rowdy, stereotypical college bars. You'll also find more laid-back, high-end, or speakeasy-style establishments throughout the city.
HEAD TO PARTY COVE ON LAKE TRAVIS
This part of the lake is frequented by double-decker pontoon boats filled with partiers. If your group wants a day of fun in the sun or wants to meet up with other lively day drinkers, this is an easy yes. You can also look into other options for booze cruises on the lakes closer to the city.
IF YOU CAN'T DECIDE BETWEEN PARTY & CHILL
5 DESTINATIONS FOR YOU + ONE BONUS
These destinations are the best of both worlds - balance out your time relaxing or exploring without sacrificing the opportunity to have a classic night out.

6. LOS CABOS
BEST FOR:
The bridal party who wants a the party experience by night and a dose of sunshine and adventure by day
WHY GO:
PART PARTY, PART VACATION, CABO IS A GREAT BALANCE
Cabo is a top-notch bachelorette destination, but it's also one of the most trendy and popular beach destinations beyond brides. Warm weather, sunny skies, fabulous food, and countless opportunities to park yourself poolside will help your bachelorette feel like a real weekend getaway for your girls.
CABO HAS JUST ABOUT EVERY AMENITY AND ACTIVITY YOU COULD IMAGINE
You should absolutely explore the local establishments, but if you're looking for luxury like you might find in a major city you won't have to look far. Fine dining and celebrity chef outposts abound. Name a high-end hotel brand. Chances are they have a place here. You also won't have to look far for something to do. Beyond the obvious pools & beaches, you can explore on an ATV, zipline, whale watch, learn to cook, and more.
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
CHOOSE YOUR HOTEL WITH YOUR GROUP'S INTERESTS IN MIND
Where you stay is going to have a big impact on your trip, and there are lots and lots of options. ME Cabo and the Vidanta Resort are tailor-made for partiers thanks to their onsite clubs (UPDATE: both Blue Marlin Ibiza Los Cabos and Omnia Dayclub have recently closed. It's currently unclear what's happening with those spaces.) For beachgoers who want to go beyond shin-deep, make sure to pick a hotel with a swimmable beach. Strong currents make this less common than you would think. Finally, consider what part of town you want to be in. San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas have very different vibes, and hotels and restaurants will be pretty spread out between the two. No matter what, arrange for taxis or drivers because you'll likely be traveling a decent way each night to dinner and bars off-property. For a full guide on where to stay in Cabo, click here!
NIGHTLIFE IS LIVELY, BUT IT CAN HAVE A SPRING BREAK TYPE VIBE
Cabo is famous for its nightlife and that's part of why this is such a perfect bachelorette destination. Just keep in mind, you might feel like you've been transported back to your college days with a rowdy Spring Breaker style crowd. For some brides this is the winning ticket, but others looking for an option between mellow hotel bars and wild clubs might have to come up with a plan B.
MUST DOS:
SET SAIL ON A CATAMARAN
Depending where you stay, you might be able to see El Arco from your hotel, but it's practically a Cabo rite of passage to hop on a catamaran to see it up close. As you sail you might also catch the migrating humpback whales or a sunset, and you'll have a chance to partake in some water activities like snorkeling or paddleboarding.
GET THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS WITH A VILLA-STYLE ROOM
Don't know whether to pick a hotel or a vacation rental? Pick a villa. Cabo has a whole host of hotels offering villa style accommodations. They're perfect for larger groups like a bachelorette. You'll have a living room and oftentimes a private pool for your whole group to hang out like you'd get with a rental. You'll also have all the amenities and service perks like you'd get with a hotel.
DRINK A HEALTHY DOSE OF TEQUILA
There are two ways to accomplish this. Let's start with the obvious. Cabo is home to bachelorette icons like The Office, El Squid Roe, and Cabo Wabo Cantina, where you can (and should) don silk sashes, dance on elevated surfaces, and throw back Margaritas and tequila shots to your heart's content. Alternatively, set up a tequila or mezcal tasting for a slightly more mature way to enjoy and appreciate Mexico's most quintessential beverage.

7. RIVIERA MAYA
BEST FOR:
The bride who wants to indulge in a wellness journey, but doesn’t want to sacrifice the opportunity to party in paradise
WHY GO:
GET THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS, BY DAY AND BY NIGHT
If you're looking to relax, enjoy a luxe treatment at the spa or the sound of the ocean waves from your seaside cabana. If you're looking to turn things up a notch, head to a sexy Cirque du Soleil show at the Vidanta resort or party until the early hours at a Mandala Group club, Coco Bongo, or Papaya Playa Project's beach rager (which along with Vidanta is also a great option for bachelorette groups to stay). For something in the middle, send yourself around the lazy river or park yourself at the swim-up bar and sip tropical cocktails until it's time to catch your flight back home.
NATURAL BEAUTY AND ANCIENT CULTURE ARE JUST A SHORT FLIGHT AWAY
No matter where you are in the US, Riviera Maya isn't crazy far, but it feels like a whole other world. The blue waters and white sand beaches of the coast, ancient Mayan ruins, mysterious cenotes, and lush jungle landscapes mingle together to create the paradise of the Yucatan peninsula.
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
CHOOSE YOUR RESORT WISELY BASED ON YOUR GROUPS'S WANTS AND NEEDS
The Riviera is a big place, comprising Tulum, Playa del Carmen, Akumal, Maroma, Cozumel, and you could also consider Cancun. Not only does each of these towns has a distinct vibe (e.g., Tulum is known for being Boho-chic, while Cancun is notorious for spring breakers), but each of the resorts will have its own vibe. Your group might not have as much fun if you pick a resort that is mostly geared towards families or couples on a romantic getaway.
BE SMART ABOUT LEAVING THE RESORT
Generally, the tourist areas of Mexico are considered pretty safe, but reports of violent incidents can occur a little close for comfort occasionally. Often these incidents are not random, but be smart to avoid getting caught in a bad situation. Don't get separated, too intoxicated, or draw attention to yourself off the resort, and consider hiring a trusted driver / tour operator who knows the area well.
MUST DOS:
TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE OF THE TURQUOISE WATERS
Of course, the sea is beautiful to look at, but make the most of it and dive in. You don't have to travel to Australia for a spectacular coral reef; the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef is the second largest reef system in the world, and well worth a day of snorkeling or diving. Alternatively, Akumal, which means "land of the turtles" in the Mayan language, is a famous spot to snorkel with its resident sea turtles.
STEP BACK IN TIME TO EXPLORE ANCIENT MAYAN HISTORY
Perched on a cliff above the Caribbean, the ruins of Tulum are as beautiful as they are historic. If old ruins aren't your thing, there are other ways to experience Mayan history. The water-filled underground caves known as cenotes were spiritual places believed to act as portals to the underworld, and it's easy to understand why. Above ground, venture into Reserva de la Bisofera de Sian Ka'an, a UNESCO site where you can kayak down Mayan canals and picturesque lagoons.
RECOVER FROM A HANGOVER WITH A TRIP TO THE SPA
The Riviera has plenty of fabulous spas to choose from to help you relax and reset after a long night out. You can choose from typical massages, wraps, and facials or you can try a temazcal ritual for an extra dose of culture. This Pre-Colombian ritual is intended to cleanse your soul with guided meditations and chanting in a sweat lodge.

8. NEW YORK CITY
BEST FOR:
The bride who doesn't understand why "the city" could mean anywhere other than Manhattan
WHY GO:
NEW YORK CITY IS ONE OF THE MOST METROPOLITAN CITIES IN THE WORLD
There are literally endless options in this city, and they are always changing, which means there is always something trendy and new to try out. The city blends vibrance, edginess, and a little bit of bougie into the perfect bachelorette party cocktail.
THERE'S SO MUCH TO DO BEYOND BARS AND RESTAURANTS
As much as you could easily eat and drink your way through an entire weekend, there's so much to see and do here. You'd be missing out if you didn't get out and see at least some of the sights. So go ahead, be a tourist if you want.
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
THE CITY IS GOING TO BE EXPENSIVE
It all starts with hotel prices, which are some of the most expensive in the country. In other places, you might be able to cut down costs by looking at house rentals or splitting rooms across multiple people, but rental regulations and the small size of NYC hotel rooms makes that a challenge. The costs will not stop there, everything is more expensive in the city from drinks to meals to activities. Keep in mind the budget of your group so that everyone has a good time.
COORDINATING A GROUP WILL BE HARD
Not only will physically getting around and snagging reservations be somewhat difficult with a big group, but you'll also face a challenge getting everyone to make a decision. There are so many options, decision fatigue is real. Make sure you, your MOH, or someone else in your squad is good at taking point and sticking to their guns on the plan so things don't go off the rails.
MUST DOS:
DINE
Eat your heart out. New York is home to some of the best fine dining institutions in the world. It's also home to hole in the walls, dirty water dogs, and all you can eat sushi joints. For a particularly bachelorette-style dining experience head to a restaurant known for a lively late night like STK's rooftop, the Catch roof, Dirty French, or Buddakhan. When it comes time for brunch, there are just as many options - since Bagatelle is no longer an option, Beauty & Essex is a great pick.
DRINK
It's the city that never sleeps, which basically translates to endless places to drink and dance. There are your classic clubs like TAO, 1 Oak, and Marquee. You can also head to rooftops like Magic Hour, Le Bain, PHD, Brass Monkey, or the enclosed but swanky Fleur Room. On the flip side, go underground to lounges like the Electric Room or Little Sister. For options that are a bit more refined check out the Campbell Bar, a Grand Central spot of Gossip Girl fame, or the Nines, a nostalgic supper club & piano bar.
GET A DOSE OF CULTURE
After my first two must dos, you'll be thoroughly stuffed and likely highly hungover. Break it up by doing something, anything different. Do the classics like the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, or the Empire State Building. Go see a Broadway show. There are many fantastic shows, but if you want to stay on-theme consider something sultry like Moulin Rouge or Chicago, or go raunchy in a different way with the Book of Mormon. For even more culture, head to the Met, the MoMA, the Guggenheim, or any of the city's other museums.

9. THE BAHAMAS
BEST FOR:
A group that wants to relax by day and party at night but doesn’t want to have to leave the resort
WHY GO:
ENJOY RELAXATION, FUN ACTIVITIES, FINE DINING, AND NIGHTLIFE ALL WITHOUT LEAVING THE RESORT
The Bahamas has two mega resorts (Atlantis and Bahamar) that feel like someone transported a Vegas hotel to the islands. Each has multiple hotel properties (read: multiple budget options), a casino, pools, waterparks, activities, and a whole list of bars and restaurants. The beauty of this is, you don't have to think too hard about your itinerary or planning the logistics for staying with a big group.
SUNSHINE AND SANDY BEACHES ARE JUST A SHORT FLIGHT AWAY
Some of the most beautiful islands in the world are just a stone's throw away from Florida. Not only is it a reasonable flight from most East Coast and Central US cities, but you can often catch a non-stop and be done with it, unlike other destinations in the Caribbean which can involve 2-3 connections.
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
NIGHTLIFE IS AVAILABLE WITHOUT LEAVING THE PROPERTY, BUT FOR MORE VARIETY YOU'LL HAVE TO VENTURE OUT
If you're at Atlantis or Bahamar, you'll have a casino, bars, lounges, even a Vegas-style club at your disposal. But, given it's a resort, sometimes things can be slower than others. If you really want to let your hair down, spring break style, you might have to venture into Nassau. It's not a deal breaker, but you might have to leave the convenience of your resort bubble.
THE BAHAMAS CAN BE INCREDIBLY POPULAR FOR SPRING BREAK
Unfortunately, this can coincide with the usual timing for late spring & early summer brides' bachelorette dates. Keep this in mind when you're booking. You might have to adjust your dates or you might have to start planning early and make sure your group is comfortable with potentially higher rates during peak season.
MUST DOS:
SPLASH AROUND AT THE WATERPARK
Atlantis has an epic waterpark that's fun for all ages. Seriously, I followed an ex-NFL star down one of the slides and have never heard such a high-pitched scream in my life! Try all the slides or pick up a tube and go round and round the lazy river with your girls. If you're hungover there's a tranquil version, but the more exciting option has waves and waterfalls to kickstart lots of laughs.
PARK YOURSELF BY THE POOL AND TRY AS MANY TROPICAL COCKTAILS AS YOU CAN
No matter which hotel you pick, there's guaranteed to be a beautiful pool, and chances are there will be several to pick from. Pick out a line of loungers and park yourselves. Soak up the sunshine and aim to sample all the fun, colorful cocktails from the beach bar menu that you can handle.
GET A TASTE OF VEGAS AT THE CASINO AND THE CLUB
As mentioned above, the labyrinthine hotels here are eerily reminiscent of Vegas. If your bride was on the fence about picking the beach vs. a more wild destination, she doesn't have to compromise here. Whether she wants to shoot craps at the casino or dance to the DJ at the club, there's plenty to do after the sun goes down.

10. ST. BARTH
BEST FOR:
An ultra-chic bridal party that’s okay with a bigger bachelorette budget
WHY GO:
ST. BARTH IS FASHIONABLY EXCLUSIVE
The island is known to be an enclave for celebrities. Some have even chosen this spot for their own bachelorette parties. This exclusivity means the island isn't overrun by mega resorts like other beach locales. Instead, St. Barth offers smaller, boutique-style (but still amenity rich) hotels and private villas.
THE SCENERY IS LIKE SOMETHING OUT OF A POSTCARD
Pristine beaches and calm waters encircle the lush green hills that form the silhouette of the island. Extravagant white yachts dot the deep blue harbors while coral-roofed buildings sprinkle the land. Underwater, you'll find colorful coral reefs and tropical fish. It's all the perfect background for the aesthetically-inclined bride.
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
UNLESS YOU'RE ABLE TO FLY PRIVATE, GETTING THERE CAN EAT UP PRECIOUS TIME
The fact is, you are going to have to connect at least once. Most likely it will be more than once. Depending where you are coming from and how tight your schedule is, this might steal valuable time from actually enjoying your bachelorette weekend. Factor this in when choosing a destination or planning your itinerary.
THE ISLAND IS NOT EASY ON THE WALLET
That exclusivity that I mentioned doesn’t come cheap. Hotels, villas, restaurants, and even just getting here can be notoriously expensive. When planning for a group, this can be tricky. You want to balance how comfortable your group is with spending so that everyone has a good time without holding back.
MUST DOS:
HIT THE BEACH - OR SEVERAL
St. Barth's is known for its beaches and swimmable, calm waters. You'll have a variety of options to choose from whether you want pristine sand, privacy, or lots of seashells. If you want to venture out a little farther with a snorkel and some fins, you'll be delighted by the coral reefs.
PARTY DAY AND NIGHT
No matter the time of day, there's a place to have a good time. Nikki Beach is an iconic beach club, where A-list celebrities make appearances. Later on, head to spots like Bagatelle or Bonito where dinner transitions into late night drinks and dancing. And even later, make your way to Le Ti, a kitschy nightclub.
SPEND QUALITY TIME WITH YOUR BRIDAL PARTY
Since you'll probably be in a beautiful villa with a pool, make the most of it. There are few chances to get all of your favorite people together in one place, and even fewer to do it in a place as beautiful as St. Barth. Take the opportunity to help your bridal party bond with each other before the big day.
BONUS: LAS VEGAS
I actually considered myself someone who couldn't decide between party & chill, but still ended up having my bachelorette in Vegas, much to my surprise. I anticipated heading to Mexico or the Bahamas, but COVID complicated things. As I started looking into alternatives, I found that Vegas was a great pick, even if you don't want to go all-out wild. I found lots to do that brought plenty of balance to Sin City!
IF YOU LIKE YOUR DRINKS DELIVERED TO YOUR FLOATIE
5 DESTINATIONS FOR YOU
These destinations are perfect for groups who want to make a mini-vacay out of their trip, day-drinking by the pool rather than ordering bottles at the club.

11. PALM SPRINGS
BEST FOR:
The bride who's a fan of Coachella or at least its trendy, retro vibes
WHY GO:
THE DESERT SUN IS LITERALLY ALWAYS SHINING
This sets the stage for fun but laid-back daytime activities. The pool will be calling your name, and you can easily spend your day atop a wedding-themed floatie. If you're looking for something more active, the desert and all its beauty is there for you to explore.
PALM SPRINGS HAS A SUBSTANTIAL GAY COMMUNITY, WHICH MEANS ITS NATURALLY LGBTQ-FRIENDLY
Whether you yourself are an LGBTQ-bride, or if you're just a group of girls excited to hang out at gay bars to avoid being constantly hit on, you'll feel right at home in Palm Springs. You'll find fun, lively bars, drag queen cabarets, and karaoke rooms to keep the party going all night long.
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
GETTING THERE CAN TAKE SOME TIME, ESPECIALLY WITH TRAFFIC
Traffic from LA to Palm Springs can be, shall we say, painful. Construction & traffic can slow things to a crawl that can easily take several hours. There are flights into Palm Springs, but availability and prices may limit this as an option. Keep the travel time in mind when planning for your group.
TEMPERATURES IN THE SUMMER CAN BE OPPRESSIVELY HOT
You're in the desert after all. It should be no surprise that temperatures climb to the upper 90s and higher from June to September. Prime time will be the spring and fall seasons, but prices will reflect this, especially during Coachella. Plan ahead to get the best dates for your group at the best price.
MUST DOS:
FEEL LIKE YOU'VE LANDED ON ANOTHER PLANET WITH A TRIP TO JOSHUA TREE
Contorted, spiky trees, strange rock formations, and beautiful blankets of stars make you feel like you have left the planet Earth. Honestly, it's easy to see why rock stars and artsy types have long flocked here and felt inspired to indulge in psychedelic drug use. I'm not endorsing that, but I am encouraging a trip to hike through the park that's hypnotic all on its own.
DAY-TRIP TO TEMECULA VALLEY FOR WINE TASTINGS
Napa isn't the only wine valley in California. Temecula is a little over an hour away if you're looking to do something a little different. Hire a driver and hop from tasting to tasting.
IF YOU'RE LOOKING TO SPLURGE, HEAD TO COACHELLA
Could there be a more iconic bachelorette experience than checking off a bucket-list festival with your bridesmaids? Of course, going to Coachella likely isn't in the cards for most groups. That said, the whole town embodies the desert chic vibes with the retro twist that define the festival. From Instagram-worthy spots to quirky shopping districts, there are many reasons why Coachella found its home here.

12. PUERTO RICO
BEST FOR:
A bridal party that wants the benefits of a tropical destination without the hassles of full-fledged international travel
WHY GO:
YOU CAN HEAD TO THIS TROPICAL DESTINATION WITHOUT (TECHNICALLY) LEAVING THE US
Puerto Rico is a US territory, which means US citizens don't need a passport to visit! It's also just a few hours from most destinations in the Eastern half of the US, so you can be on the beach in no time.
DEPENDING ON WHAT YOU WANT, YOU CAN BALANCE BEACHES WITH ADVENTURE OR THE CHARM OF OLD SAN JUAN
Puerto Rico is first and foremost a beach escape - perfect for brides hoping to give their bridal party a chance to relax together before the big day. The island also has options if you want to mix things up. Ziplining and kayaking through lush landscapes and bioluminescent bays are perfect for a more active bride, while the historic Spanish colonial city of Old San Juan is great for brides wanting a little taste of culture or nightlife.
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
YOU MIGHT BE JOINED BY SPRING BREAKERS
Warm weather, proximity to the continental US, and a drinking age of 18 make Puerto Rico a popular destination for spring break. Since spring break tends to coincide with summer brides' bachelorette dates, there's a chance you'll be sharing the island with college kids. This might add to the liveliness if you're looking to indulge in San Juan's nightlife, but it might dilute the maturity you're hoping for. Keep in mind your choice of resort will also have a big impact here.
IT MIGHT BE TOUGH IF YOU HAVE ANY WEST COASTERS IN YOUR GROUP
Bridal parties are spread far and wide these days, so it can be hard to find a convenient geographic locale for everyone, but this might be pushing it. Even as close as Puerto Rico is to the US, it's still a 7+ hour flight with a 3-hour time change for those coming from the West Coast. Keep in mind the location of your group before hitting book!
MUST DOS:
VENTURE INTO OLD SAN JUAN
There's plenty to do in the historic city by day or by night. The city is one of the oldest in the Caribbean and is filled with historic sites from a UNESCO World Heritage Fort to the burial site of Ponce de Leon to scenic streets and promenades. By night, there are plenty of places to dine, drink, and/or dance to your heart's content.
EXPLORE THE NATURAL SIDE OF PUERTO RICO
Of course this means wandering the sandy shores of the island's sun-drenched beaches, but it also means not overlooking the unique natural wonders the island has to offer. El Yunque rainforest is home to spectacular, often endangered flora and fauna. Explore on foot or get the thrill of a zipline ride. At night, experience one of the rarest phenomena in the world - bioluminescent bays. There are only 5 ecosystems in the world where microscopic organisms are concentrated enough to produce a visible glow, and Puerto Rico has 3 of them. Take the opportunity to kayak through the glimmering water.
HEAD TO CASA BACARDI FOR A RUM TASTING
If you're looking for a boozy activity but want to migrate away from the swim-up bar, check out a tour at Casa Bacardi. There are several options to choose from ranging from mojito mixing classes to chocolate pairings. You'll be able to tour the distillery, learn about the Bacardi family, and of course, taste some premium rum!

13. SCOTTSDALE
BEST FOR:
The bride who pictures her bachelorette floating in the pool with just her and her girls (and maybe some cabana boys)
WHY GO:
THERE ARE TONS OF GREAT RENTAL PROPERTIES TO PICK FOR YOUR BACHELORETTE HOME BASE
If spending time with your bridal party is a top priority, renting a house is a great choice. You'll have all your girls together with the perk of plenty of space, and likely a fantastic pool. Scottsdale has plenty of cushy options to choose from, and you likely won't break the bank once you split it across your group.
IF YOU DO DECIDE TO LEAVE THE HOUSE, OLD TOWN AND THE SURROUNDING DESERT HAVE SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
Definitely take advantage of a great rental house, but when you do want to leave, you have great options at your doorstep. Speed it up in the lively Old Town where you can indulge in trendy restaurants or enjoy its fun nightlife scene. Alternatively, slow it down in the desert with a host of adventures and activities to choose from.
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
THE SUMMER MONTHS GET ARIZONA-LEVEL HOT
When I say hot, I mean really hot. From June to September the average high is 100*F or more. If you're planning to spend your entire time in the pool, you might not mind. But if you're a fall bride (i.e., planning a summer bachelorette) looking to hike and explore, you'll want to plan around the heat with your date or destination choice.
DECIDE IF SPRING TRAINING SEASON IS FOR YOU
In March, multiple MLB teams call Scottsdale home. Timing wise, this lines up with the typical bachelorette timeline for late spring & early summer brides. Keep in mind, you might not be the only ones headed to the city; baseball brings over 2 million visitors. This means things in the city might be busier than usual, so book ahead. It also gives your group one more option for something to do if you want to head to a game. Bonus, when you're out, keep your eyes peeled for athlete sightings.
MUST DOS:
ADVENTURE YOUR WAY THROUGH THE DESERT SCENERY
A classic option is to climb Camelback Mountain. This doable hike is all but a rite of passage when you come to Scottsdale. You can also get out and go off-roading with a Jeep or ATV tour through the desert. If you want to venture a little farther, Sedona or the Grand Canyon are both day-trip distance away.
SOAK UP THE SUN AT THE POOL
Chances are you've rented a house, and chances are you'll find a house with an awesome pool. Warm weather and sunshine will naturally have you and your bridal party parked in a lounge chair or on a floatie. But, if that's not enough reason for a pool day, you can hire the Scottsdale Cabana Boys to deliver drinks, DJ, and more. If you want more of a Vegas-style pool experience, check out options like Maya Dayclub or the W Hotel Pool.
BAR HOP THROUGH OLD TOWN
Between the condensed layout and the golf-cart taxis, it's incredibly easy to hop between the variety of bars, like Bottled Blonde or Whisky Row, and more clubby options, like El Hefe, Riot House, or the District. If you don't even want to think about where to drink next, hop aboard a guided pedal bike pub crawl.

14. THE HAMPTONS
BEST FOR:
The effortlessly chic bride who uses "summer" as a verb
WHY GO:
THE HAMPTONS ARE MANHATTAN'S SUMMER PLAYGROUND
The city makes a weekly exodus to the beach houses, if you can call them houses, of the Hamptons. It's certainly a place to see and be seen. It's lively and chic, which makes it a great spot for the stylish bride's prenuptial party.
THERE ARE PLENTY OF OPTIONS FOR PLACES TO GO OUT, NO MATTER YOUR GROUP'S STYLE
Day to night, wild to mild, there are plenty of options here. The local wineries like Wolffer Estate or Channing Daughters are great options to get out and about. (Note: some of the wineries have been burned by misbehaved bachelorette groups in the past. Be on your best behavior and be careful about describing your group as a bachelorette party.) You'll also likely spend plenty of time at your pool or the beach, but if you're looking for a more exciting spot to day drink, head to a beach club. Dinner can also easily blend into drinks and dancing at a few notorious nighttime venues.
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
HEADING TO THE HAMPTONS IS NOT GOING TO BE A CHEAP DATE
With a good chunk of Manhattan headed here every weekend during the summer, you can bet rates will respond accordingly. You'll be painfully aware of Hamptons' popularity when planning, especially at the best spots. Hotels and houses will book up and be expensive. You'll also rack up charges for dining, drinking, and getting around. Plan ahead and make sure your bridal party is all on board with the budget before booking.
COMING HERE IS BEST FOR EAST COAST, PARTICULARLY NYC, BRIDAL PARTIES WITH SUMMER OR FALL WEDDING DATES
While its relatively close to NYC, it'll still take you a couple of hours by car, the Jitney, or the LIRR - that is unless you splurge on a Blade… Let's go ahead and assume you won't. This commute will definitely eat into your time, especially if you're also catching a flight to New York. The Hamptons also has a definite off-season where many hotels and restaurants close. Memorial Day to Labor Day is primetime, so if you're looking at dates outside that window, you'll want to look elsewhere.
MUST DOS:
PICK A PART OF THE ISLAND AND PLAN YOUR ITINERARY AROUND THERE (OR AT LEAST HIRE A DRIVER)
It can be expensive and time consuming to move from place to place on the island. Lucky for you, some of the fan favorite spots to go out either transition from dinner to drinks and dancing, like Southampton Social Club, or they're located at hotels, like Ruschmeyer's or Gurney's, so you can just slink back to your room at the end of the night. If you really want to move around or want to visit one of the local wineries, hire a driver so you don't have to worry.
DANCE THE DAY (AND NIGHT) AWAY
If you're looking for day drinking and DJs, check out beach clubs like the Surf Lodge or Gurney's. At night head to the Southampton Social Club for a chance at spotting celebrities or the Stephen Talkhouse, a spot infamous for hosting big name performers like Billy Joel or Coldplay grace its stage.
IF YOU HAVE A LITTLE TOO MUCH FUN, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE MANY WAYS TO RELAX AND RECHARGE
If you've spent too much time at the beach club, enjoy the actual beach. Stick your toes in the sand, catch some waves, or learn to paddleboard. Splash into the pool, shop in town, or get pampered at one of the luxe local spas.

15. SAN DIEGO
BEST FOR:
The bride who wants all the amenities of the city with the warm weather and laid-back vibes of the beach
WHY GO:
YOU CAN HIT THE BEACH OR POOL ALMOST ANY DAY OF THE YEAR
It's sunny more often than not, and rain is rare. Plus, the city has some truly goldilocks weather - not too hot, not too cold - average highs are in the 70s and 80s year-round. Combine the lovely weather with over 70 miles of coastline, and you're sure to find yourself enjoying the beach.
IT HAS EVERYTHING YOU WANT IN A BACHELORETTE DESTINATION WITHOUT THE CLICHE
For whatever reason, San Diego just hasn't become oversaturated with bachelorette parties like some other, albeit awesome, spots on this list. You'll have plenty of things to do like water sports and party bikes, plus all the fun of nightlife districts like the Gaslamp Quarter, Hillcrest, or Pacific Beach, but you're less likely to be surrounded by other brides and bridal parties all night long.
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
SAN DIEGO IS NOT PARTICULARLY KNOWN FOR ITS AFFORDABILITY
California and specifically its cities are chart-topping for many reasons. Unfortunately, one of those charts pertains to costs; CA cities like San Diego tend to be some of the most expensive places in the US. Keep this in mind when you are planning for your group so that no one feels their stomach drop when they see the bill. If hotels don't make sense for your group, keep your eye out for rentals where you'll have both shared spaces and shared costs.
HEADING TO SAN DIEGO MAKES THE MOST SENSE FOR BRIDAL PARTIES ON THE WEST COAST
"Well duh," you say. It's easy to see that San Diego is easiest to get to for West Coasters, but just keep in mind just how far away it might be for some of your group. The city is tucked into one of the farthest corners of the US. If your group isn't all clustered in California or the Southwest, it can be quite the hike to get there.
MUST DOS:
HOP FROM ONE ROOFTOP BAR TO THE NEXT
Whether for brunch, some afternoon lawn games, or a more clubby experience, San Diego has a host of rooftop bars to pick from. It makes sense - who wouldn’t want to hang out with refreshments and epic views of the beach and sunset? Plan to hop around to a few. You might also consider a cabana at a rooftop pool.
SET SAIL OR SURF OUT ON THE WATER
With all that sunshine it would be a shame to not get out on the water. San Diego is known for its surfable beaches like the beginner-friendly Tourmaline Surf Park or the nudist and more challenging Black's Beach. Arrange a lesson for your group to up your odds of catching a wave. If surfing isn't your thing or maybe the water of the Pacific is a little too chilly for you, consider heading out on a boat for the day!
BE TOTAL TOURISTS AT THE WORLD-FAMOUS SAN DIEGO ZOO & ADJACENT BALBOA PARK
These might not be the most stereotypically bachelorette-y things, but that doesn't mean they don't deserve consideration for your itinerary. Taking a stroll around Balboa Park's aesthetic Spanish architecture and formal gardens sounds like a great way to start the day. You probably won't be spending the day in one of the complex's museums, but it might be hard to pass up visiting the world-renowned San Diego Zoo and its several-thousand animal residents.
IF PARTYING ISN'T YOUR (MAIN) GOAL
6 DESTINATIONS FOR YOU
These destinations offer up fun things to do where the main goal isn't just to get drunk - even if a few cocktails are still involved.

16. SKIING
BEST FOR:
The bride who likes a little dose of adrenaline and an even bigger dose of alpine luxury
WHY GO:
SKIING IS ALWAYS A GREAT GIRLS' GETAWAY - YOUR BACHELORETTE IS NO DIFFERENT
Maybe it's bunking up in a rustic cabin with all of your best friends, maybe it's coming in to enjoy a crackling fire and a warm cocoa after a day in the snow, maybe it's the perfect mix of getting active with high-quality R&R - whatever it is, ski trips always seem to be top of mind for a girls' trip. This still rings true for your bachelorette!
APRES SKI IS A FAN FAVORITE, BUT IT'S ALSO EASY TO STAY COMPLETELY SOBER WHILE SLOPESIDE
I know I have friends who care just as much about the town and the lodge as they do the actual mountain. So, if you're looking for a little of the typical bachelorette rowdiness, après ski has you covered. That said, there is absolutely nothing about skiing that requires drinking - in fact, there's a pretty strong argument for why it's more fun sober. If you don't want alcohol to be the focus of your bachelorette, it's easy to enjoy the mountain by day and return to your lodge for a low-key evening in with your girls.
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
SKIING HAS THE UNIQUELY PREVALENT RISK OF GETTING HURT BEFORE THE BIG DAY
No one ever plans on getting hurt, but accidents happen, and before your big day they can be a big deal. Just think through the scenario where you blow out your knee. Are you okay missing out on dancing? Would you reschedule? Most people are going to be just fine, but some might feel more comfortable saving skiing for another time.
IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO PARTY, ALTITUDE CAN TAKE ITS TOLL
In some ways this is great - you'll feel the effects of alcohol more quickly and drink a lot less! But, altitude sickness can be a struggle for some all on its own. Add alcohol to the mix, and you might end up with some of your group down for the count and unable to have fun the next day. You might have to balance expectations for time skiing vs time partying, especially if your group isn't used to the altitude.
CONSIDER YOUR GROUP AND YOUR WEDDING DATE
As much as you might be a skier, your bridal party might not be. Skiing isn't always the most fun your first time out, and it's an expensive trip to take if you're not having a good time. Also, ski season is limited. You might be trying to force your bachelorette into an atypical timeline before the big day if you want to celebrate on the slopes
MUST DOS:
START BY PICKING THE RIGHT RESORT
Make sure you are keeping your group in mind before you simply jet off to your favorite mountain. Unless your group is all experts, you might not collectively have a lot of fun at a resort geared towards experienced skiers like Jackson Hole. Somewhere with more mild options, like Breckenridge might be a better pick. Consider access - somewhere like Park City is easy to reach via a major airport and doesn't require long shuttle rides. Also consider après. There are many excellent resorts to choose from, but each has its own unique vibe. For example, Aspen offers a glamorous twist while Tahoe resorts have easy access to Reno's casinos. Do your homework before you head out to find the best match for your group - check out my skiing guides!
HIT THE SLOPES BY DAY AND THE HOT TUB BY NIGHT
It's pretty obvious you'll be spending a good part of your day doing laps on the mountain (come up with a system or use an app to stick together), but don't forget about what happens after you hang up your skis for the day. Pick a resort or house that's easy access to great après spots and a crackling fire. Better yet, find a spot that has one of the best parts of a great ski vacation - a hot tub to ease sore muscles and spend quality time with your group.
CONSIDER PLANNING A NON-SKIING ACTIVITY
This might not make sense if you're all hardcore skiers, but most groups likely have a mix of both ability level and dedication. Plan to mix it up with an activity that everyone can enjoy. Stick to snowy activities like snowshoeing or snowmobiling, or try take the opportunity to warm up with a spa day or a trip to nearby hot springs.

17. NAPA VALLEY
BEST FOR:
The sophisticated bride and crew that wants to have fun, but not go crazy
WHY GO:
IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A CLASSY BACHELORETTE WITH A SOPHISTICATED FEEL
It's not like you can't get tipsy after several tastings, but Napa is not going to provide the stereotypical wild bachelorette experience. You'll be focused on bonding together and having a great few days away. You build memories more like you would on an grown-up vacation rather than the ones you lost on spring break back in the day.
NAPA IS TRULY ONE OF THE BEST FOOD AND WINE DESTINATIONS IN THE WORLD
You don't have to travel across the globe for outstanding food & wine. This is especially true for West Coast brides. Bonus points if your group appreciates wine and food. You don’t have to know everything because you'll pick up some things while you're here, but tastings are really the bread and butter (no pun intended) of Napa. If your group is already interested in food & wine, they're sure to be in hog heaven.
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
NAPA CAN BE HARD TO ACCOMMODATE ALL BUDGETS & TIMELINES
Tastings aren't crazy expensive, but the destination generally skews towards the high end with regards to dining, drinking, and places to stay. Depending on where you want to stay, you might only have pricey hotels to choose from (vs. a big group house) because Napa County does not permit short-term rentals. Also consider that it's a couple hour drive from most Bay Area airports, and you'll likely need to rent at least one car. Plan around this by coordinating flights and cars.
NAPA IS NOT THE MOST BACHELORETTE-FRIENDLY DESTINATION
Wineries want to keep the vibe upscale, and a group of rowdy, drunk girls sporting bachelorette paraphernalia doesn’t match that. That may not be your group, but don’t think the word "bachelorette" won't go without raising an eyebrow or two. On top of this, some of the wineries are just not set up for large groups. As long as your group is willing to behave, keep the "bachelorette" aspect low-key, and split across seatings if needed, you should be fine.
MUST DOS:
HIRE A DRIVER TO TAKE YOU AROUND TO AN ITINERARY OF TASTINGS
The bonus here - beyond not drinking and driving or getting lost - is your driver can help you plan which wineries will work best for your group and provide knowledge along the way. Try to work some diversity into your day because each winery experience can be quite different from the next. For example, we visited one of the best-known names in the Valley along with a small, family-run operation. Alternatively, take a trip on the antique wine train, which serves meals and makes stops at multiple famous wineries. If you're looking for a different perspective of the valley, hop on a hot air balloon for an aerial view.
PLAN FOR A HIGH-END DINNER AT LEAST ONE NIGHT
Napa is known for having one of the highest concentrations of fine dining in the world. There are four Michelin-starred restaurants here including one 3-star as well as a whole host of other award winners including restaurants with nods from the James Beard Foundation and listed on the S. Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurants. Take advantage.
SCHEDULE A DAY OF PRENUPTIAL PAMPERING
Being the luxury destination that it is, Napa is no stranger to a spectacular spa. Book yourself and your gals a good day of pampering. Calistoga even has mud and mineral baths thanks to natural geothermic activity. If heading to the spa is a little beyond your group's budget, you can still lay back and relax by the pool or take part in a group yoga class.

18. SEDONA
BEST FOR:
For the bride who wants to embark on a wellness journey, or at least a mini-reset, before the big day
WHY GO:
THE SCENERY IS STUNNING AND HIKING ISN'T THE ONLY WAY TO SEE IT
The city is surrounded by gorgeous red rock formations from buttes to canyons. You can of course get out and hike, but Sedona offers so many ways to get out and explore the landscape. Try mountain biking, going off-roading in a jeep, taking a horseback ride, or seeing things from above in a hot air balloon or helicopter. Don’t sleep, literally, on the scenery after dark. Sedona is a designated Dark Sky community perfect for stargazing with the potential to see the Milky Way.
SEDONA IS KNOWN WORLD-WIDE AS A SPIRITUAL DESTINATION
Depending on what you believe, you might take advantage of Sedona's concentration of 4 vortexes (places where the earth's energy is believed to be more powerful) as a place to meditate, heal, have your aura read, and more. If you're a bit more mainstream and not ready to dive headlong into the metaphysical community, you can still take advantage of Sedona's reputation. Being a place known for healing, it's no wonder that some pretty incredible spas have popped up here.
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
SEDONA ISN'T A MAJOR HUB
Getting there will require a little more than a simple direct flight and an Uber. It’s not too bad; it’ll take about 2.5 hours from the Phoenix airport via car or shuttle, but make sure you are prepared for this and plan your itinerary accordingly.
SEDONA IS ONE OF THE MORE SEDATE LOCATIONS ON THIS LIST
It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but Sedona is much better known as a place to reset and relax than to paint the town red. Of course, the night can be whatever you want it to be in your own casita, but you won’t find the same jam-packed drinking districts with bars slinging cocktails into the wee hours that come to mind with other bachelorette spots.
MUST DOS:
RELAX AND RESET WITH A SPA DAY
If wedding stress hasn't pushed you to need a spa day, an overeager hike in the desert easily can. Make sure to plan for a day to pamper yourself and your bridal party. You're in one of the wellness capitals of the world - take advantage! Sign up for a hot stone massage, a desert salt exfoliation, a red rock mud wrap, an energy healing session, or all of the above!
BEAT THE HEAT AT THE POOL
You're in the desert; it's no secret that it's hot out there. What better way to cool off than at the pool? Make sure to pick a spot to stay where you can soak up some sun and dive into a refreshing pool. It's a tried and true way to spend quality time with all of your best friends before the big day.
EXPLORE INCREDIBLE NATURAL WONDERS
As mentioned, Sedona offers postcard scenery everywhere you turn. No matter your method (again, there are many choices here), get out and explore the natural beauty. Sedona is also within easy, day-trip reach of sights like the massive Grand Canyon and the otherworldly Antelope Canyon. If you want to add some exploring to your trip, it would be easy to add a bucket-list experience (or two or three) to your itinerary. Make sure to plan ahead - some sights like Antelope Canyon require early planning and reservations.

19. ORLANDO
BEST FOR:
The bride who's still a kid at heart and always down for a Disney power hour or a Harry Potter marathon
WHY GO:
GOING TO ORLANDO IS A UNIQUE TWIST ON A BACHELORETTE
It's definitely not what usually comes to mind, but it's literally a city built on fun. What more could a bachelorette party want? If you're looking for something a little more G-rated than your usual bachelorette party or simply want to do something different, Orlando should be on your shortlist.
THERE ARE ENDLESS OPTIONS FOR THINGS TO DO HERE
There are more parks and rides here than you could possibly cover in a weekend (honestly, more like a year). There's fun dining and fine dining. Shopping and nightlife. Spas, sunshine, and swimming pools. Adventure, nostalgia, and a whole lot of fun.
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
ORLANDO ISN'T JUST FOR KIDS, BUT THERE DEFINITELY WILL BE KIDS
You'll have to mind your behavior somewhat (Girls Gone Wild isn't going to fly). You might get stuck next to a toddler throwing an absolute tantrum about not getting to ride the teacups. And, because the parks are designed with families in mind, some only allow alcohol at table service restaurants. Make sure your group is okay with this, and plan accordingly for when you want to have a more "grown-up" experience.
THE PARKS CAN BE SHOCKINGLY EXPENSIVE
You might not have noticed if you went as a kid because you probably didn't foot the bill, but admission is ridiculous. Once you're inside, they've got you captive, and little side costs will quickly add up. There's a reason families spend years and years saving up for a trip to Orlando. Keep this in mind to make sure your group is onboard and all having a fun time.
MUST DOS:
DRINK AROUND THE WORLD AT EPCOT
EPCOT is a bachelorette party must. The World Showcase is made up of 11 different country "pavilions" surrounding a lagoon. The pavilions feature local architecture, rides, souvenirs, dining, and perhaps most importantly signature drinks. Try to make your way around the full loop with stops at Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, USA, Japan, Morocco, France, the UK, and Canada.
EXPERIENCE THE MAGIC
This is almost too easy to do at Disney and Universal, and it's going to mean something different to each bride. For some, it'll mean reliving their childhood with mouse ears, Cinderella's castle, and character dining experiences. For others, it'll be being transported to Africa on the Kilimanjaro Safari or taking a private fireworks cruise at the end of the day. Millennial brides will likely feel right at home with a butterbeer in the Leaky Cauldron at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
TAKE SOME TIME TO RELAX
Orlando can be a jam-packed, sensory-overload experience after a few days. Take some time to relax and have a more adult experience with your group. The spas at the Grand Floridian or the Ritz-Carlton are top picks, and the Four Seasons has the rare adults-only Oasis pool.

20. CHARLESTON
BEST FOR:
A Southern belle who cares about the food as much as the party
WHY GO:
THE DINING SCENE IS INCREDIBLE
Not only is Charleston in the South, which is already known for rich cuisine drawing from a melting pot of cultures and comfort food that will rival your grandma's, Charleston is also home to more James Beard winners per capita than any other city in the US. From oysters to BBQ to a hearty brunch to cure your hangover, you'll find it hard to not be constantly stuffed.
CHARLESTON IS OVERWHELMINGLY CHARMING
It's one of the oldest cities in the US, and big portions of the city feel like they haven't changed in centuries. Boutique shops and colorful houses with iconic porches, or piazzas, line the cobblestone streets. Boats sail around the harbor, and Spanish moss drips off old oak trees. If your bride is on the prowl for an aesthetic bachelorette, Charleston should be at the top of your list.
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
CHARLESTON DOESN'T HAVE THE WILDEST NIGHTLIFE
If you're in this section of the guide, this might be exactly what you're looking for. You'll still be able to find plenty of spots to enjoy after the sun goes down, especially lounge-style bars, rooftops, and breweries, but compared to other destinations on this list, Charleston is a lot more tame.
KEEP IN MIND THE SEASONAL WEATHER
The city may be in the South, but it can get chilly in the winter months and the weather might be a little unpredictable in the shoulder seasons. In contrast, the summer can be quite warm. Overall, it's relatively pleasant year-round, but you might be planning different activities based on the season.
MUST DOS:
EAT LOCAL SEAFOOD AND SOUTHERN CLASSICS
I've already mentioned this, but dining out in Charleston is half the reason to go. Make sure to try some of the local flavors while you're in town. Being right on the coast means fresh caught seafood, and that means you should indulge on things like oysters on the half shell, shrimp and grits, Frogmore Stew (aka Lowcountry Boil), and the local She Crab Soup. Don’t forget about things like okra soup, fried green tomatoes, BBQ, and planter's punch.
GET OUT ON THE WATER
You have choices here! Spend an afternoon lounging on one of the sandy local beaches. Alternatively see the harbor or the sea from a boat. You can set sail on a dedicated harbor tour, which will give you more time, space, and customization. But if you want a super affordable option (and some history), heading out to Fort Sumter comes with a nice little cruise with sights of the city and frequently dolphins.
CHECK OUT THE BREWERIES AND ROOFTOP BARS
The craft beer scene is thriving in Charleston, and there are plenty of breweries to try local brews and often enjoy a fun patio. Charleston is also full of fantastic rooftop bars to enjoy creative cocktails and sweeping views of the city. Charleston is known as the Holy City because of its abundance of churches, so you'll see over 400 beautiful steeples in the skyline as well as its iconic bridge, the USS Yorktown, the water, and of course the sunset.

21. GLAMPING
BEST FOR:
The bride who wants to re-live her days at summer camp
WHY GO:
GETTING OUT IN NATURE IS A GREAT WAY FOR YOUR GROUP TO BOND
It will just be you and your bridal party and nature. You'll be able to focus on spending time with one another without all the usual distractions and excess of a bachelorette party. It's an awesome way for your group to bond before the big day.
GLAMPING IS AN AMAZING OPTION FOR CELEBRATING SOBER
While bachelorette parties are typically synonymous with debauchery, they don't have to be. For brides looking to focus on their friends and a weekend away rather than drinking, look no further. There is absolutely nothing about glamping that requires or even necessarily inspires drinking. If your goal is to avoid alcohol, you won't have to try hard - simply don't pack any.
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
DO YOUR HOMEWORK, AND PICK A PLACE THAT HAS THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF AMENITIES
Glamping is a broad term, and one person's idea of glam might be very different than another's. Some glamping tents you'll find, like those at Under Canvas, Collective Retreats, Big Cedar Lodge, or the Ranch at Rock Creek, are as nice or nicer than most hotel rooms, but others will lean more towards roughing it. That might be just what you and your group want (or you might be quickly adjusting your search for cabins), just know exactly what you're signing up for and what you're equipped to handle before you book.
THERE ARE LOTS OF OPTIONS FOR PLACES TO GO, BUT MOST WILL TAKE SOME TIME TO GET TO
Collective Retreats actually offers a glamping experience on Governor's Island in NYC, but that's the exception to the rule. Getting seclusion and uninterrupted nature usually means getting away from the city. Your group will likely have to fly and then continue via road for a while. Make sure to plan your travel time wisely and coordinate rides.
MUST DOS:
GET NOSTALGIC WITH SUMMER CAMP STYLE GAMES AROUND A CAMPFIRE
A lot of bachelorette games are advertised as "fun" but can come off forced and cheesy. Something about sitting around a campfire playing games reminiscent of your childhood feels so much less so. Roast some smores and share some laughs while your bridal party bonds.
GET OUT AND EXPLORE THE NATURAL SCENERY AROUND YOU
This will look a little different depending on the location you choose, but you'll almost certainly be surrounded by the solitude and beauty of nature. Get out for a hike or a bike where you can relax and soak it all in. For some options, check out my National Parks guides!
TRY A MORE ADVENTUROUS ACTIVITY TO TAKE YOUR MIND OFF WEDDING PLANNING
There's nothing like a little adrenaline to clear your mind of your endless to-do list. Go whitewater rafting, horseback riding, ziplining, etc. Not only will you get to do something you might not have done before, you'll get to see more of the landscape, and your group will leave with memories they aren't soon to forget.
